KBS Kpop World Festival London Finals 2014

HEY GUYS. Ranveer here, and I’ve mentioned this in our ‘Things We Like!’ video, but I’ll say it again: I. Love. K-pop. (Korean Pop) and yesterday, I went to the KBS Kpop World Festival London Finals at DSTRKT, with my two sisters, cousin and best friend (You may recognise her from the Hyper Japan vlog). ~ Well actually... It’s past midnight now, so the event was 2 days ago, but oh wellllllll, same thing!

We got to the venue at around 2:30 and so we made it just in time for the beginning of the competition. There were roughly 300 people in the club, cheering on the acts as they performed their covers of K-pop songs (singing or dancing). I won’t go into too much detail of each act because, to be honest, I will end up saying the same thing about them all, which is that they were amazing and so talented.

In the end, there were two winners: one for dance and one for vocals, and the vocalist winner was a man named Jeffrey (I hope I spelt his name right, if not then I’m so sorry!!) and the dancing act that won was a group called prism, who performed an insanely amazing cover of BAP’s One shot. Loved it!

After, the winners and runner-ups were announced, it was time to set up the dance floor and well....DANCE, for the next two hours. The atmosphere was great and it was so much fun dancing along to some of my favourite Korean tracks with my friend. (My sister even joined in at one point...and she doesn’t really like dancing!)

Please excuse our faces in these pics xD

Towards the end of the event, we decided to hop onto the stage and dance along with some other Kpop fans, until we got told off by the security for having too many people on the stage (Boo.) But it was totally worth it! :P We met some awesome people at the event and I will definitely be attending the KBS Kpop World Festival London Finals next year and who knows...Charlotte and I might even participate! But we can’t sing so dancing is our only option...and ummm you know how much of a flop we are when it comes to dance:

SO yeahhhh, we’re gonna need to step up our game if we want to take part. But we have a year. A lot can happen in a year. We just gotta make the most of our time and stay positive! I shall leave you with a picture of some cinnabons that we bought after the event. (2 for £1 wooooo)

They were so yummy! :')

I’ll talk to y’all very soon, but in the meantime, KEEP SMILING and STAY AWESOME :D xxx

2 Truths 1 Lie Challenge

Hey guyssss! :)
Charlotte and Ranveer here and we're back with another Challenge video.

The challenge this time was "2 Truths and a Lie" - a game where one person says three statements about themselves, and the other has to correctly identify which one is false. Sounds easy right? WRONG.

Althoughhh, when we set out to do this challenge, we found that the most difficult part wasn't in the guessing, but the planning. It seemed we simply knew too much about each other! It was actually soooo hard to think of truths and lies where the other person wouldn't know the answer already - and in fact we didn't even manage it properly because we'd both forgotten parts of what the other one knew! Ranveer forgot I (Charlotte) had read her personal statement back in Year 12 and so I knew about her maths awards; and I forgot all about the apparently hundredssss of times I'd told her that I've never watched Mulan. Shameful, I know... I'll watch it one day? XD

The challenge itself was quite fun though, and we learnt some... interesting... Things about each other. Did you know Ranveer was almost the star of a TV show? No? Me neither! Also, did you know that I... Well, um... I kind of bit my best friends hand in reception because I got annoyed with her. *hides* I haven't bitten anyone again since then though, I swear!!! *angel face*

The best part of the challenge, however, was definitely the ending (for me anyway, mwahaha!).

Walking around the block with Ranveer looking as hawttttt as she does in the pic above certainly turned some heads.

To be fair though, I'm not sure that the artistic skills I unleashed on her in any way compare to what she did to me when I lost The Theme Song Challenge:

Soooo after these two challenges, the leaderboard is at 1-1 on Charlotte vs Ranveer. It's definitely on and there's everything to play for. >:D

If there's a challenge you'd like to see us do, make sure to leave a comment! But for now, Charlotte and Ranveer outttt, and we shall see you next time. :) xxx

2 Girls 1 Weapon I Mortal Kombat

Hey everyone! Charlotte and Ranveer here. We're back with another video in our 2 Girls 1 Game series, and this time we played Mortal Kombat.

Were we any good, you ask? Well. We were absolutely uh-may-zing... for two (kinda ill) noobs who haven't played the game in years. xD

Somehow, we managed to get to the third stage (out of ten stages) in the "Team Ladder" mode before both dying gruesome deaths. Just thinking about all that blood... *shudder*

Throughout the rest of the game though, we actually did alright, and we probablyyyy would've done loads better if we knew how to swap in and out properly! In the end we just kinda got into the habit of pressing all the buttons at once and hoping that it would bring the other person in. Anyone know the actual combo for it? Lol

Something we DID learn playing this game though was that this game has some awesome but disgusting moves. Ranveer had waaaay too much fun freezing her opponents and smashing their faces in for example, and my move (I'm Charlotte, btw) was so violent and ahhhhh! When it went to X-ray vision and you could see the skull as it cracked, just... omds.

This game was a lot of fun though, and we got a bit excited playing it xD. Defo want to play some more one day and beat our all-time record of 3 stages on Team Ladder!

Oh, and one final conclusion from this game: we are the MASTERS of button bashing.

Charlotte and Ranveer out. See you next time. ;) xxx

When in Barcelona I Day 4: Beach & Departure

Sup everybody? Charlotte and Ranveer here for the final instalment of our little Barcelona series! :)

It felt like we had been there for no time at all, but the time had come for us to say our goodbyes to the apartment and check out in the morning. Seeing as our flight wasn't until 21:55 though, we left our luggage locked safely away and set off to make the most of our last chance to catch some Sun before going back to the rain - torrential rain - in London.

We quickly decided that the best way to do that would be to go to the beach and spend our final hours chilling there, splashing around in the huuuuge waves and running down the shore, bay watch style, past the crowds of people.

Oh, and also. We are officially amazing at taking mid-air jumping pics, HSM style.

Ohhhh yeah. :3

Something else we did at the beach was eat some decent vegetarian food. NO MORE BURGER KING! Carrots, toasted seedy bread, the best chips everrrr and hummus. Mmmm... #foodporn :3

Now, everyone knows that you shouldn't swim straight after you eat.  So what did we do instead? Played with our shadows of course! Pssht, we are sooo mature. xD

Soon though, the sun began to set. We picked up our bags, took our final selfies of the trip and got to the airport nice and early, ready for our flight, just to find that it was delayed by an hour. Dammit.

At midnight UK time however, we finally landed and a couple of hours later we were in bed and trying to sleep, without panicking, about the A-Levels results we were due to get in just a few hours. Tbh, it wasn't too bad; we had loads of great memories from the trip still fresh in our minds, and we had done so much during our time in Barcelona that we were both exhausted.

How can we sum up this holiday? Maybe just with the word "awesome". :)

Not sure if you can tell, but that's meant to say OHP ...lol

Hopefully one day, we'll be able to do it all over again... For now though, Charlotte and Ranveer out. xxx

My dog: Wesco vom Gleisenauer Schloß

Hey guys, Ranveer here. I know you were probably expecting this post to be about our final day in Barcelona, but don’t worry! That will be up very soon. I promise.

I just wanted to talk about my dog, Wesco, somewhere. I figured this blog would be a good place to do that. If you have watched some of our videos on YouTube then you may have heard loud barking noises in the background and that was from my 2 german shepherd dogs: Wesco and Kira.

Wesco is the larger dog of the two, in the picture. The little black puppy is not Kira. He was our other puppy at the time but he now lives with our family friend.

Today, at 5:50pm, I overheard my brother and cousin talking about how my dad would be taking Wesco to the vet. Around 6 months ago, we found out that Wesco was suffering from cancer. I immediately burst into tears at the thought of losing him after being with him for so long. Since hearing the news, his condition became worse and he developed an ear infection and well...he just wasn’t as active as he used to be.

He has been a part of our family since 2005, when my dad drove to Germany with my brother to pick him up. Not once have we ever put him on a leash or used a collar. He is probably the most well-trained dog I will ever come across in my life. So obedient. So loving. So caring. He was always there to take care of us and to protect us. He was with me for half of my life. He saw me grow up.

As I said before, I found out that he would be taken to the vet and went straight to my dad to ask if this was true. He told me it was true and that there was a possibility that he wouldn’t be returning home with us. I ran upstairs, grabbed my shoes, and went straight to the car.

We made our way to the vet and sat in the waiting room for a while and it gave me a chance to reflect on the memories with Wesco. I have had so many dogs throughout my life, but Wesco has been with us for the longest. I’m rambling on now and this post will become really long if I keep going at this rate and I’m sure you all know where this story is leading to.

He has been suffering for a long time now, and it has been really hard to watch. The vet told us that it was time to put him down and that it was for the best. We had a couple of minutes to say our goodbyes and then it was time for us to leave.

I’m not sure how I managed to type this without it being a complete mess. I apologise for the spelling mistakes and the missing punctuation etc. but I just honestly can’t write this without stopping to get more tissues and wiping my eyes.

Wesco vom Gleisenauer Schloß, your father was a champion and may have won best dog in 2000, but from 2005 onwards, in my eyes, that title has belonged to you. I love you. You will be remembered forever.

When in Barcelona I Day 3: Sagrada Familia & Bus Tour

Sup peoplessss? Charlotte and Ranveer here and you guessed it, we are gunna be talking to you about Day 3 of our little adventures in Barcelona.

In fact, our third day in the city probably was the most adventurous. We started off by journeying to the Sagrada Familia - also known as Spain's famously incomplete yet stunning cathedral - and skipping the hours of queues with the use of a personal tour guide. What made it even better was that to get there, we went on the metro from the station "Paral.lel" to "Diagonal". Get it? Oh we are soooo sad lol. xD

Anyway, the Sagrada Familia really was beautiful. The guide told us how the architect, Gaudi, had designed it around nature. He explained the intricacies of the symbolism in the cathedral, detailing how every animal carved into the walls represented something different and the way in which Gaudi had ensured the cathedral would be constructed in a way such that the Sun's orbit would circle around the church perfectly instead of going over the top; it meant that no matter what time of day it was, there would be natural lighting until the Sun set completely.

After that, it was definitely time for lunch. Like seriously, we were starving. xD Luckily we found the Pizza Emporium, which had vegetarian food (not just pizza but pasta mmm) !!! Exciting times for us considering we had been practically living on snacks so far. So we kinda ate quiiiite a bit hehe.

Once we were full and finished with our food we decided to get tickets for one of the bus tours that goes around Barcelona. Having bought our tickets we joined the queue to get on to the bus and waited there for... well, I want to say 5 minutes butttt if I'm being completely honest it was more like 10... before realising we were in a queue for a different bus tour. OOPS! xD So we quickly changed lines and tried to act casual about it, and eventually hopped onto the RIGHT bus.

The bus took us around the city and we got off it a few times to check out some of the sights. We went to some gardens, which were very pretty, but Ranveer had a bit too much fun when we came across some statues inside them and she tried to copy their... interesting... poses.

Oh, and she also hid in some bushes and swung around a pole. Naughty girl. -.-

From there, it was a relatively short walk to FC Barcelona's Stadium, which was a must-see for us considering our group had long since decided that our team name for this holiday would be "the seven wives of Neymar Jr". :3 Also... The stadium had a Ben and Jerry's ok, 'nuff said. We NEEDED that cookie dough.

Our final stop was perhaps the most beautiful. Overlooking not only the magic fountain but the whole of the city. Uh-may-zinggg.

We could've stayed there for so long just staring out at the view, but sadly we had to drag our reluctant selves away and walk back to the apartment. It was quite a long trek but our (mostly Ranveer's) map reading skills were totally on point.

After crashing for a while in our room, we decided it was time to eat once again. Butttt we kinda had no food left, so we had to settle for billions of Burger King mozzarella sticks and some chips. Seriously, it felt like we did have billions of those things and I don't think I will be eating any more mozzarella sticks for a long time to come. Even the words "mozzarella sticks" are making me shudder a bit. So I'm gunna stop saying it now.

After eating all that fast food though, we felt like we had to burn some energy off. And that meant jumping around on the bed like lunatics, with me (Charlotte) being violently attacked by Ranveer with a pillow to the face. :'(

So as I'm practically knocked out, we shall leave it there and we will see you tomorrow to talk about our final day. Peace out, adios, laterssss!!! ;) xxx

When in Barcelona I Day 2: Water Park & Opium (Club)

Sup everyone? Charlotte and Ranveer here. Last time we spoke, we told you all about our first day in Barcelona together with five of our other friends. Today, we're going to talk about day two!

The second day, like alllll of the days we spent there, had quite an early start. But it was defo worth it!!! Well... it was worth it after the half hour or so we spent being completely lost when trying to change between the metro and the Spanish equivalent of the overground. xD Seriously, the journey to Illa Fantasia waterpark took so much longer than it was supposed to lol.

When we arrived there though, we didn't care. The first thing we saw was a giant - and I mean GIANT - bucket dumping a huuuuge load of water onto a crowd of people who were just screaming with joy. Like dayum, how could we not be excited after that? It certainly woke me (Charlotte) up from my usual morning grogginess haha.

Apart from that amazing bucket though, there were loadssss of crazy awesome slides around the place. Twisting ones, huge straight ones, ones that threw you around in fast currents... We just had to go on as many as possible. :')

But here's the thing; just when we thought we had almost done everything in the park, we turned a corner and BAM. It was like a whole other world of slides, pools and craziness.

We found a massive pool with a wave machine and... Wait for it... A stage. Like... what?! Unfortunately there was no show going on apart from some lifeguards standing on the stage flexing their muscles, but we didn't mind that haha. :3 Still, it was reallllyyyy cool.

Also in that pool was group of about 20 guys, all around 20summin years old, who were hilariously just doing the Hokey Cokey in about 2 metres of water and trying to impress one of the female lifeguards. Poor girl xD. It was kinda funny though... hehe

As the day was drawing to a close though, we had to force ourselves to leave the waterpark and slowly make our way back into the city of Barcelona. After all, we had a club to go to!!!

Before we made our way from our apartment to Opium (the club), we realised that we HAD to predrink. But we had the slight problem that-well. Neither of us drink. *angel faces* 0:)

To resolve this major problem, there was only one reasonable thing we could do. It was necessary. Completely necessary. What was it you ask?
Shots.
Shots of water.

After that intense drinking (lol), we went to the club and realised we were kinda awkwardly early. But it did mean that we were able to get some good pics of the club before it got packed with people - and it really did get packed. We thought that going on a Monday night might be a little dead but nahhhh.

Unfortunately though, they didn't really play the songs that we are into. No "feelin myself"... No "talk dirty". *sigh* Still, we danced around until we needed to go back and collapse from the second in a series of longggg days.

Again, that's where we will leave it. With the zzzzz... See you next time :)

When in Barcelona I Day 1: La Rambla & The Magic Fountain

Sup world? Charlotte and Ranveer here and guess what?! We were just in Barcelonaaa babyyyyy!!!

This was our first ever holiday with just friends, and so of course we wanted things to go as smoothly as possible and hence have the most fun we could... It therefore didn't help when I (Charlotte) managed to almost lose my phone on the journey to Gatwick Airport in the taxi by dropping it down the side of a chair. Oh dear.

Soon the time came to go through security, and at this point several people in our group had the sudden realisation that their plastic bags -stuffed with cosmetics and other liquids - were ever so slightly way too big. *Cough Ranveer cough cough*. With a bit of reshuffling and sharing however, it was all good and somehow the millions of liquids we had between us made it to the other side. *phew*

After those first few blips though, things seemed to go quite well, and before we knew it we were on the aeroplane and about to take off. Exciting times! We had been planning for soooo long and now it was finally happening. Us. Barcelona. Bring it on!

Upon arriving at the apartment, we couldn't help but be totally amazed. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, balconies, a kitchen, a living room, but most importantly it was real and we were all on holiday - together. Now that, that called for something special. What, you ask? SELFIESSS! Seriously, we took soooo many selfies and snapchats on this holiday it was unbelievable. And considering how many selfies we take on a normal day anyway, for us to say it was a lot... Well. You get the picture. The many, many pictures. Hehehe :3

Ok so moving on. After unpacking a few things, we decided to go explore the area and walked to la rambla in the beautiful weather. No more rainy England! To make the most of that sunshine, we just HAD to stop for ice cream. Mmmmmm it was so good...

In the evening, we made our way to the magic fountain and it really did live up to its name. It was magicccc. Somehow we managed to get up to the very edge of the fountain and were able to watch in awe as the colours transitioned from one to another. We didn't even mind getting wet standing there - it was refreshing to get splashed as we danced around to the music, having our own mini rave.

Eventually though, we had to drag ourselves away from it and crash in the apartment from the longggg day we had. After all, we had left at 6am to go to the airport (ugh I hate mornings) and it was now close to midnight. It was defo time to sleep and get some energy for the day out exploring tomorrow, although Ranveer did of course need her green tea first. ;)

So I'll leave it there for now, with us pushing out the zzz. We'll be back soon to tell you more about what we got up to in barca, so make sure you come back and check it out! We hope you enjoy the video, and don't forget to tell us about any holidays you've been on or if you have ever been to Barcelona!!

See you next time :) xxx
