VLOG: Hyper Japan 2014

Sup World? It’s Ranveer! :D Charlotte is on her second holiday of the summer in Menorca...and I’m still at zero for my holiday count, lol. But that’s not the point of this blog. On Friday (25th July), my sisters and I (along with a couple of friends), went on a little adventure to Earls Court, London for ‘Hyper Japan 2014’, which is the UK’s biggest Japanese Culture Show.

I have always been really interested in Japanese Culture from a young age and that came about from watching anime and Japanese dramas, and then listening to J-pop, and then researching about the fashion. After attending Hyper Japan last year, I promised myself that it would become a tradition for me to attend this annual event every year, (just like MCM Comic Con), and so I did exactly that!

Finding the venue was hardly a problem and we passed through the entry very quickly, which was fortunate as I really don’t like waiting in queues. (Yet I find myself doing exactly that for concerts, lol. It’s so worth it though!) But as we entered the venue, there were quite a lot of people walking around and we weren’t sure where to start. So we just walked towards the first stall that we saw and they happened to be selling swords.

As always, gaming fans were able to get a first look and ‘hands on’ time with the latest Nintendo games. My sisters definitely took advantage of this and were actually glued to the Nintendo area for a good half an hour. So I decided to let them carry on with that whilst I walked around to see what else was going on, with my friends.

After a couple of hours of wandering around; playing with different gadgets and buying a few accessories, posters and other items for ourselves, we decided that it was time to take a look around the food court. There was a large variety of stalls selling Japanese food, hot and cold alcoholic drinks and soft drinks, teas, candy, ingredients, snacks, sweet treats and so much more. Last year, I tried okonomiyaki, so I wanted to be a bit different this time, but I actually didn’t end up buying a proper lunch. Instead, I filled myself up with some Hello Panda snacks. Oh dear.

As some of you guys may know, I LOVE green tea. Absolutely love it. I was so happy to see so many snacks that were green tea flavoured...so AWESOME. I can’t wait to try the green tea flavoured kit kat! Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the person that made such beautiful creations. My friends decided to try the takoyaki and octopus ball pieces, whereas my sister went for the more westernised option of chicken. I have been meaning to try shaved ice for so long now, and I thought that it would have been the perfect opportunity to do so at Hyper Japan. But I didn’t actually get around to doing that.. maybe next time?

As expected, there were many people walking around with a range of different outfits, and it became somewhat of a game to us to try and guess which character people had decided to cosplay as.

There was also a performance by Anna Yano, who is an extremely CUTE singer and fashion model, I believe. Overall, I had a great time and am happy with the things that I bought. I hope you all had a great day too, whether you were at Hyper Japan, or out and about, or even chilling at home. So all that’s left to say is BRING ON HYPER JAPAN 2015! :D xxx
